One of my favorite first birthday gift to give, is to find a huge bag and fill them with all sorts of different balls. The balls will be used for years to come. I always put balls for all ages and abilities in the bag and then I know it will be used for years to come.

My son got a bag of balls 15 years ago, and we still have the basketball and football that we play with.

I figure that most of you can find regular balls all on your own without my suggestions, so I will let you hit all of the discount stores to find playground balls, basketballs, soccer balls, etc. What I have for you today is Sensory Balls.
Sensory Balls are great for infants, children with special needs and kids in general. The sensory experience can be added in a lot of ways. There can be bells inside so you can hear that the ball is coming to you. It might be a plush ball that makes sounds when you push it. The texture of the ball may be different, for example have bumps on the outside. Koosh balls are sensory.
Some sensory balls are different shapes. Some are really squishy while others are heavy.
You want to pick out the balls that your child will really enjoy or respond to. On the
letkidsplay website for December 11--you will find over 40 examples of sensory balls for you to choose from. So have a Ball! OK it's corny, but I just had to say it. A majority of the balls cost under $20. The larger ones, ones with multiple balls, and those that come from "special needs" catalogues are more expensive.
Tomorrow, I am going to give you some suggestions for balls that are easy to throw and catch. Stay tuned. Mara
