I saw this question on another board and thought you wise people might know the answer

Anyone aware of any local movie theaters that have weekly showings of "grown-up" movies where you can bring along your baby? They used to have this at Waterworks theater, but no longer. In these showings, they keep the houselights up, and the volume low, and crying babies aren't an issue (because everyone else has one!).

I dont know of any movie theaters that do this, but it sounds wonderful.

My 6 month old just realized he could squeal at the top of his lungs, just for fun.

It would give us another activity to do with him, please keep us posted if you find out any info.

Two years ago, I went with my newborn to Showcase North on Tuesdays at 10AM.   It was wonderful.   But I was often the only one there, and now i see on a search of their website through National Amusements that their only theater offering it is in Philadelphia.  Bummer.    I wonder how the theater would feel if we brought a newborn to an early, sparsley attended movie anyway?

I know that Lowes in the Waterfront used to do this on Tuesdays at 11, but I can't find it on their website now either. And the theater in the Waterworks in Fox Chapel used to also adn stopped.  Maybe they've all stopped doing it?

I know that it is cold outside and you would have to run your vehicle every once in a while and it is late in the evening...how about a drive-in?  The Dependable in Moon Township is open all year long.  Admission is $6 for 12 and older, $2 for kids 6-11 and under 6 is free.  Their website is www.dependabledrivein.com.  The biggest draw back is that you have to spend $12 or more at the box office or at the concession stand to use your debit/credit card so bring cash.  And you can bring your own food/drinks.  We go sometimes (which is usually the only way I am going to see a movie outside of the house) and it only costs us $12 for two adults and 2 kids and an infant.

    Connie,

I didn't know the drive in was year round!  I've never taken the kids, but only because the movies in the summer start so late that I don't think they'd be able to stay awake. Maybe going in the winter or spring would be a better idea. Do they start earlier? (I think in the summer they start at 9:30 or so).
