Can anyone recommend a legitmate work-from-home business?  I'm a stay-at-home mom of twins and a 4 year-old and am looking for some kind of work that I can do from home for a few hours a week at my convenience to earn a little extra income.  A lot to ask, I know, but I'm sure such a thing exists I just don't know where to look.  I've been looking on the internet but keep getting bogged down reading blogs by people who were scammed by some too-good-to be true work-from-home job.  I'm not looking to make millions (well that would be nice) but I'm realistic.  I'm hesistant to try anything that I have seen so far for fear of getting "burned".  I've been approached to sell jewelry, candles, make-up but I don't have the time to go to parties nor do I want to spend my weekends and evenings away from home doing that.  I would prefer something I could do on the computer at home.  My friend told me about elance.com but I don't know anyone who has actually worked for them.  If anyone has any suggestions I would love to hear from you!

My neighbor and I were just talking about this very thing the other day.  A while ago, my husband saw a Good Morning America segment about legitimate work from home jobs.  One of the websites they suggested (www.workingsol.com) is a call center environment where you login to their website and answer calls from home.  The downside that I found to this is that is states that you have to be able to schedule specific work times a week in advance and guarantee that you will be in a quiet environment.   This is not very practical at my house, where at any given time, you can hear two girls playing, giggling and screaming in the background.  Another site they suggested (www.odesk.com) I have been thinking about looking into more myself.  From what I can tell from their website, you sign up and take efficiency tests which gives you more earning power to bid for jobs.  It doesn't seem like you would have to have a set schedule and you could work at any time during the day (or night).  I would imagine that if these were on GMA that they are legitimate.  Good luck on your quest!

Thanks Pajama Mom & Connie.  I'll check them out...I know I'm dragging my feet too because I'm not sure when I will find the time to work other than the middle of the night when my 3 angels are sleeping!  :)

Just came across this thread and will be checking back frequently for any new posts as I too have been looking for a stay-at-home position for some time now and get very discouraged when you look at something online or try to investigate a "possibility" only to be hit with pop-ups and scams.  I just wish people running those websites weren't so cruel...I don't want to make millions a month, while I sleep...I just want to help support my family but be able to have me be their caregiver rather than a daycare center.

Congratulations! Your realistic goals caught my attention.  I am a consultant with a wonderful company called Premier Designs.  We are a home show (like partylite, tupperware etc) business, but with Jewelry.  I left my job as a nurse to stay home with my kids and work this business .  I have the best of both worlds, I get to stay home with my kids, and I still make money. The good news is I work my business around my life.

I would love to tell you more, in the meantime, check out our website www.premierdesigns.com  and email me if anything peaks your curiosity.
