just wondering if anyone has/had experience with essure?

i made my appointment for this week.

i am very nervous, sad, and kind of excited.

    is that normal?

I don't have any personal experience with it.  Several of the ladies on my due date club when I had my son had it done and they seemed like it went well for them.  I do know one person IRL who had it done and it did not go well for her.  I am not sure if her doctor was just not that familiar with the procedure or what the problem was but he tore the tube and she ended up with an infection.  Her other side went just fine but she had to heal and go back later to have that side redone.  I'm not trying to scare you with that story but it is the only other case I know about.  I offered to have it done but my dh was fine with having a vasectomy done.

My dh had a vasectomy after our son was born last year and I am still having mixed feelings about it so I totally understand where you are coming from.  I am 37 and have two healthy children and I have one of each and I know it makes sense to be done but it still makes me kind of sad.

I think it is normal to feel kind of sad when you choose to be done having babies and it is certainly normal to be nervous when having any kind of procedure done.  Best of luck with it and I hope it goes well.

I had a friend that did it and she LOVES it.

I'm still trying to decide what our plan will be.  We need a plan though. We're done having kids.

I had Essure done about 6 months after my son was born back in 2004.  I was a "test" case for my doctor to be certified, along with 3 other women the same day.  I was nervous about that, but no mixed feelings about making a permanent birth control decision.  I was up and out the hospital doors in just a couple of hours within having the procedure performed.  You know if you have any children recovery time is out of the question.  What I liked best about Essure was there was no "recovery" time.  I was at the gym the following day.  Having your tubes tied involved more of a recovery period.  I've not had any issues at all concerning my procedure and have been very satisfied with the results.  I even suggested it to a friend who had the procedure done this past fall and she is also equally satisfied.  Good Luck with your decision.

thanks girls, i go tomorrow.  i'm most worried about not eating or drinking after midnight!  no morning coffee!  lol!  and the i.v.  i hate those.

    i will keep you posted.

my husband and i took all three kids to wal-mart on saturday, just to confirm that we are making the right decision...  only took about 20 minutes before we looked at each other and laughed.  :)  we're ready.

Where are you having the procedure done?  You can always ask anesthesia to put some numbing medication in before inserting the IV.  Regular nurses always have trouble with my IV's not going in well (tiny veins) so I've learned just to ask for the anesthesia department to use a teeny tiny needle to inject numbing medication before inserting the IV cath.  Good Luck...
