Has anyone been to Overly's Country Christmas lights display in Greensburg?  I read a blurb in Pittsburgh Magazine yesterday that talked about it being a drive-through thing like Hartwood but then I saw a Facebook post from someone saying they "walked through" and had kettle corn, etc.

What's it like? Worth the drive?

And while we're on the subject, how's Oglebay?  Is it worth the drive to Wheeling? We live about 10 mins from Hartwood so it's easy for us to go there, not sure if the others are worth it/different enough to drive to.

We were just talking about Overly's the other evening when we went to Kraynak's.  We used to go to Overly's every year when we were kids and it was still at their home.  It was absolutely gorgeous then.  I haven't been there since they moved it to the fairgrounds though.  The fairgrounds seem so far for us so we haven't been gone.

I've never been to Oglebay either.

I hope someone chimes in about Overly's because I'd like to make the drive sometime but would love to know if it's worth it first.

Overly's Country Christmas is a 53 year old light display located at the Westmoreland Fairgrounds in Greensburg, PA.  We're about our Christmas Village where guests can see a model train display, enjoy a char-grilled hamburger or a cup of hot chocolate from the Country Kitchen, visit our gift shop, sing carols 'round our bonfire or take a horse-drawn wagon or sleigh ride through the lights and much more.

Vist our website at www.overlys.com or follow us on Facebook (overlyscountrychristmas) or Twitter (@overlys) to learn more about us.

    Merry Christmas,

Well Thank You Stepanie! Ask and you shall receive, eh? I wasn' texpecting the executive director to chime in :)

So is it a drive through light display or a walk/carriage ride through?

I guess I should actually go to your web site and I'll find my answer, eh?  I thnk it sounds like a lot of fun and I think we'll put it on our calendar for this weekend.

First, it is a drive through on the way to our parking lot. From there, enter Christmas Village through the Canopy of Lights and enjoy the sights, sounds, smells and tastes of an old-fashioned Christmas. Meander through the buildings, gather 'round the bonfire and roast some marshmallows or sing some Christmas carols. Then if you wish, take a horse-drawn wagon ride or sleigh ride through Christmas Village and the lights of Overly's Country Christmas. Hope to see you in Christmas Village!!! Merry Christmas, Stephanie

We went to Overly's a few yrs ago and loved it!  The drive through part is no where near as good or as big as Hartwood, but its still nice...the fun part is walking thru...lots of little shops, train display, train ride for kiddies, big bonfire (which you need in this weather), hot cocoa ....general store and even the kiddies went into a caboose and sat on Santas lap and we got to take your own pictures!!!  I thought is was totally worth the drive...just bundle up....we were freezing!  We still had a wonderful time ...you can pay extra $$ for a sleigh ride too..not sure how much though.
