Time is on my side
I joked a few weeks ago to my carpool pal that when she was taking her 6 p.m. nap, I’d be making dinner, making lunches, etc., etc., etc. You know the list.
She said, “Oh, yeah. You’ve got another job, don’t you?”
I don’t look at parenting as a job like she meant it, but I did find it funny that I had another six to eight hours of doing something left in my day AFTER my work day.
I wasn’t jealous of my friend, and I’ve never been one to match the stuff I have to do with the stuff someone else has to do (except with my husband), but our conversation made me think back to before I had Lincoln. What the heck did I do with my time?
My other friend always says, “We thought we were soooo busy.”
I thought I was. What happened to all that stuff I used to do? All I can remember doing, I still do, so why aren’t I DEAD? Whether you’re a working mom or a stay-at-home mom, we’ve all got our list of to dos AND the most important task of taking care of our kids to fit in a day. Most days, though, I don’t feel like it’s a lot – as long as I don’t start adding it up. Am I used to it? Am I fooling myself? Maybe I just turned into an amazing time manager?
It’s funny what you can handle and rearrange when you’re just doing your job. How do you feel about your time? No one ever has enough, but do you feel you’ve got a handle on your days?
