My name is Astrid Camille, I am a proud Mom to two beautiful boys. My oldest is Kai Michael, and he is 8 years old. He is BEAUTIFUL!! And a TRUE JOY!! My little Angel!!! Kai is diagnosed with Autism Spectrum Disorder/Mental Retardation. He receives tons of therapy to help him with his challenges and he is in an Inclusive setting at school where he has exceeded everyone's expectations, including his teachers. Kai is currently going to Third Grade (where did the time go) and academically he is right on track and doing wonderfully. My youngest is Heath Michael, who is 7 years old. Not a baby anymore, WAAAAAAAAAAA!! He is my little MIRACLE. Born at 30 weeks and stayed in the NICU for 31 days and had major surgery to remove a mass in his lung at only 15 months old. You would never guess he has gone through so much as he is a typical 7 year old, very smart, active, and a spoiled brat. Heath is in Second Grade and at school is doing absolutely fantastic, everything he brings home is PERFECT. He gets along with everyone, is a good listener and just plain smart, oh and he loves BASEBALL. Heath is in the same school with his brother Kai, and both are doing GREAT. Both get along perfectly!! They are true BROTHERS!!
As for me I am married to Michael for 12 years now. We live in Pittsburgh. I am a Stay at Home Mom for most of the time. I work Part Time for the PEAL Center as a Parent Mentor. I also volunteer for the Autism Speaks Walk Commitee, member of the Local Task Force, Co-Leader of a local Autism Support Group and PTA Board Member. My main goals right now are for my boys to be HAPPY, for Kai to get the services he needs and continue in an inclusive setting with support, for Heath to have a typical childhood and for me to keep sane.
